Wisconsin-based Kohl’s Corp. will employ roughly 150 local workers at its new location in Victor, company officials said.
The specialty department store has scheduled the grand opening for the site on March 24.
“We are excited to open the doors to the new Victor location. Kohl’s helps customers stretch their budget with incredible values on great brands, offering everything our customers need for their families and homes in one location,” said Matt Lashway, district manager for the new Kohl’s location, in a statement. “We deliver on our promise to expect great things through our merchandise offerings, our customer service and our commitment to the environment and the communities we serve.”
The Victor store, located at 439 Commerce Dr., is one of 71 Kohl’s stores nationwide built according to a sustainable prototype, which received initial silver certification in Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design from the U.S. Green Building Council.
The store’s green attributes include recycled and locally obtained building materials; high-efficiency heating and cooling systems; occupancy sensor lighting for stockrooms, break rooms and offices; water-conserving plumbing fixtures and a recycling program for cardboard boxes, hangers and packaging.
The Victor store is Kohl’s 47th in New York, and one in nine stores opening this spring. Those new stores will employ more than 1,500 workers nationwide.
